Food security policy
In 2014, Togo signed on to SUN, Scaling Up Nutrition program [1] which specifically addresses issues of malnutrition.
“Togo has developed a National Policy for Food and Nutrition (PNAN) in 2010 and a National Strategic Plan for Food and Nutrition (PSNAN) 2012-2015. The PNAN takes into account the double burden of malnutrition, gender and human rights and the PSNAN requires increased support from technical and financial partners.”
The above mentioned programs are underlined in the Programme National d’Investissement Agricole et la Sécurité Alimentaire (PNIASA) 2011-2016 and Plan National Développement Sanitaire (PNDS) 2012-2015 [2]
Goals of these plans include the following:
(1) la promotion de la nutrition et de l’éducation nutritionnelle y compris les modes de vie saine,
(2) le renforcement de la lutte contre la dénutrition,
(3) le renforcement de la lutte contre les carences en micronutriments,
(4) le renforcement de la participation communautaire,
(5) le renforcement des capacités.
