-Farmers may buy only certified, registred, or catalogued seeds

-Farmers may re-sow privatized seeds, but may not exchange, gift or sell them

-Upon (suspected) infringement, seeds can be seized and farmer can be fined

-Over last decade, Monsanto and Dow have received 155 permits for experimental planting of genetically modified maize in Mexico
